Honolulu food warehouse to pay $200K, fix safety violations
Unicold Corp. has agreed to pay $197,000 in penalties assessed by the federal government and will make health and safety changes to its refrigerated food warehouse in Honolulu, ending two years of litigation.
A joint inspection by the U.S. Department of Labor and Hawaii’s Occupational Safety and Health Division in 2013 found that nearly all warehouse emergency exits were locked, sealed, or blocked — a “willful disregard of employee safety,” according to the department.
