Judge allows lunchbreak lawsuit against MedStar Health to proceed

A lawsuit by MedStar Health employees seeking back pay for unpaid meal breaks can proceed after a U.S. District Court judge denied the hospital system’s request to dismiss the case.

Employees at six MedStar hospitals in D.C. and Maryland claimed in a suit filed last year that hourly workers often end up getting called back to their duties during their unpaid meal breaks — or miss those breaks altogether.
