Beaver Valley Power Station shut for refueling

One unit of the Beaver Valley Power Station shut down over the weekend for refueling and maintenance.

FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE), the Shippingport facility’s owner, said 61 of its 157 fuel assemblies will be replaced, and other work, including safety checks, will be made. There was no timeline on when the plant would be back in operation.

The Beaver Valley Power Station puts out 939 megawatts and has been operating since its last refueling in November 2013.
