Bill that would ban fracking bans breezes through the Texas House

Texas regulators are one step closer to preempting nearly all local oil and gas regulation in the state.

House Bill 40 advanced unchanged through the Texas House of Representatives with a vote of 122-18 Friday afternoon.

The controversial bill gives the Texas Railroad Commission authority to preempt city laws when it comes to subsurface oil and gas operations, including hydraulic fracking.
