D.C.’s biggest move ever: 880 tons and 34 feet

There’s nothing easy about moving, whether it’s an office, a home — or an 880-ton historic brick building.

But that’s what Douglas Development and its contractor, Davis Construction, are doing in Mount Vernon Square, where the first of two historic structures will be jacked up and rolled 34 feet to the east as part of Douglas’ massive Square 450 project.
