Gas prices in Charlotte area, nationwide creep higher

Gasoline prices in the Charlotte area and beyond are creeping steadily higher, driven largely by rising crude oil prices and the start of seasonal refinery maintenance, according to AAA.

A gallon of regular unleaded in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill metro area was averaging $2.21 as of Monday, up from $2.17 a week earlier and from $2.01 a month ago, according to AAA Carolinas.
