José Andrés opens Beefsteak, his vegetable-focused restaurant in Foggy Bottom

Beefsteak, the cheekily-named restaurant from D.C. favorite son José Andrés, opened its doors Friday for a soft opening.

The chef’s fast-casual foray is vegetable focused — think beefsteak tomato — and will serve a limited menu this week while in its soft opening period. Andrés tweeted about the opening Friday.

The restaurant is in George Washington University’s new Science and Engineering Hall at 22nd and Eye streets NW. The university formally opened the building earlier this month.
