Texas company seeks big leap with really large N.C. solar project

Texas solar developer Principal Solar Inc. says it will soon close on financing for a $173 million, 78.5-megawatt solar project it plans to build in Hope Mills, N.C.

The would be the biggest solar farm west of the Rockies. It will also mark a huge jump for Principal Solar. The company has so far built 3.5 megawatts of solar capacity in three projects in Tennessee, Massachusetts and Maine. The Hope Mills project would be more than 30 times the size of Principal’s largest project on the ground.
