Johnson Controls lands $4M lighting contract in Binghamton, N.Y.

Johnson Controls Inc. has landed a $4 million contract to review all of the municipal lighting in Binghamton, N.Y., as the city moves toward conversion to LED technology.

According to a media report, the Glendale-based company (NYSE: JCI) would map all of the city’s street lights and determine the energy and cost savings of installing LED lights. In addition to street lights, the city has contracted for analysis of the lights in the parking garages and bridges.

The 7,500-square-foot space Trust Company of Kansas is vacating the 125 N. Market building in downtown Wichita will create a new opportunity for another service-related company.

Emerson wins $76 million power plant contract in Poland

Emerson’s Process Management business segment has been awarded a $76 million contract to automate a power station in Poland for Tauron Wytwarzanie, a power generation company.

Emerson will serve as the project’s main automation contractor and main electrical contractor.

The contract calls for Emerson to automate a new 910-MW generating unit at TAURON Wytwarzanie’s power station, which is expected to go online in Jaworzno, Poland, in 2019.

Pipe manufacturer to cut more Houston jobs

Tenaris SA (NYSE: TS), a Luxembourg-based steel pipe company that has its North American headquarters in Houston, is cutting more jobs in Houston.

The company told the Texas Workforce Commission it will cut 133 employees on May 23 at its Texas Arai facility at 8204 Fairbanks N Houston Road. The facility is part of the Maverick Tube Corp. business that Tenaris acquired in 2006 in a $3.2 billion deal.
