Publix reveals timeline for Britton Plaza store demolition, rebuild (Rendering)

The Publix Super Markets Inc. store in Britton Plaza will close at 7 p.m. March 14 to prep for demolition.

The store will be torn down shortly after, though a date hasn’t been set, a spokesman for the Lakeland-based grocer said Monday. The new Publix that will be built in its place should open by the end of the fourth quarter.

Liberty Mutual Insurance is reportedly considering developing a huge new service center outside of Dallas, Texas, that could bring 4,000 to 5,000 jobs with it.

Another KC area mall is about to bite the dust

The Great Mall of the Great Plains in Olathe will close sometime this fall, according to VanTrust Real Estate LLC, the asset manager for the property.

VanTrust is now working with the Olathe Chamber of Commerce and Olathe Economic Development Council to determine the best reuse of the property.

Opened in 1997, the 1 million-square-foot indoor mall is located on 110 acres at the intersection of 151st Street, Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 169.

Colorado has more millionaires, but slips in the rich rankings

Colorado had 118,293 households with liquid assets of more than $1 million last year — almost one out of every 18 households.

That’s according to the latest annual Phoenix Global Wealth Monitor report from Rhineback, New York-based Phoenix Marketing International.

But while that’s an increase of 4,379 millionaire households from 2013, Colorado slipped in the report’s ranking of the states by per-capital millionaires to No. 18 last year from No. 16 in 2013 and No. 14 in both 2012 and 2011.

Wolf: Shale tax needed to fund education

Gov. Tom Wolf swung through Monroeville on Monday afternoon to drum up support for his plan to tax Pennsylvania’snatural gas production to pay for education.

Speaking at the Monroeville municipal office, Wolf said the state ranks 45th in the country for public education funding. That is unacceptable, he said.

“We should be near the top,” he said. “We cannot disinvest in education.”
