Capital One not the only Greater Washington firm in sights of Obama bank tax

At least three other big money companies based in Greater Washington could be subject to President Barrack Obama’s proposed bank tax in addition to Capital One Financial Corp.

SNL Financial published a chart showing nonbank financial services firms and insurances companies that are also targeted by the tax, which would raise $112 billion over 10 years by imposing a 7 basis point tax on the liabilities of firms with assets of more than $50 billion.

Alexandria once again makes Amazon’s annual list of Most Romantic U.S. Cities, coming in at No. 4 this year.

Amazon compiles its list based on orders per capita of everything from romance novels and romantic comedy DVDs to romantic music and sexual-wellness products.

Knoxville, Tennessee, reclaimed the No. 1 spot this year, followed by Miami and Orlando.

Five cities fell off the top 20 this year, including San Antonio, Seattle, Spokane, San Jose and Sioux City, Iowa.

Association of American Medical Colleges parts with second of two headquarters buildings

The Association of American Medical Colleges has shed the last vestige of its former headquarters, roughly eight months after officially dedicating its new home in D.C.’s Mount Vernon Triangle headquarters.
