GE sells unit to focus on industrial business

General Electric is planning to sell one of its units toboost another part of its business, New York Business Journal reports.

GE (NYSE GE) plans to sell most of its GE Capital unit over the next two years. It has already struck a deal to sell about $26.5 billion in commercial real estate and debt to Blackstone and Wells Fargo.

GE officials made the decision in part because of the regulation and oversight that comes with financial business, including the “too big to fail” classification.
