Tesoro brings Martinez refinery back on-line, adjusts production figures

San Antonio-based refining company Tesoro Corp. has reopened its refinery in Martinez, California, following the end of a weeks-long labor strike prompting new production estimates for the first quarter of 2015.

Members of the United Steelworkers Union walked off the job at the refinery on Feb. 1 and spent weeks on strike before voting to accept a new labor contract on March 24.

Bowser to open bidding for sites at Waterfront Station, Truxton Circle, Anacostia and Shaw

Mayor Muriel Bowser will reveal on Monday the first major slate of development solicitations to be released by her administration, to include the final piece of Waterfront Station and parcels in Truxton Circle, Anacostia and Shaw.

Pending home sales rose in February

More people looking for a house or condo found what they wanted last month.

The National Association of Realtors says pending sales of existing homes rose 3.1 percent in February, and contract signings were up 12 percent from a year ago. The harsh winter weather did mean a small decline in pending sales in the Northeast, but the decline was offset by strong sales in the West and Midwest.

Contract signings in February were the highest in almost two years.
