Houston Chronicle's downtown building going up for sale

The Houston Chronicle’s downtown building will be put up for sale on April 7, according to the paper.

The property is two blocks south of Market Square Park and includes a 10-story office building at 801 Texas and a parking garage. HFF is marketing the property, which doesn’t have an asking price, the Chronicle reports.

Paul Barbetta, the company’s executive vice president and COO, expects the future owner will tear the building down and replace it with a skyscraper, according to the report.

Texas retailer At Home near Towne East

The former Target space near Towne East Square will soon be home to another retail tenant.

At Home, the home decor superstore, plans to open later this year in the 105,000-square-foot space at 301 S. Towne East Drive. The company is targeting a August or September opening.

That site will be one of two Kansas stores Houston-based At Home opens this year. A similar-sized store is opening near the end of the summer in Olathe. At Home sells various indoor and outdoor products and furniture.

NuStar Energy building new crude oil pipeline origin point in the Eagle Ford

NuStar Energy has announced a binding open season for a new pipeline origin point inside the Eagle Ford shale region just south of San Antonio.

The first expansion of the company’s South Texas Crude Oil Pipeline System is nearing completion creating a 200-mile stretching from La Salle and Frio counties all the way to the Gulf Coast.

​Kawasaki sells headquarters in Irvine

Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA has sold its corporate headquarters in Irvine to Bixby Land Co. for $44.25 million.

Kawasaki will remain a tenant at the 262,463 square foot building at 9950 Jeronimo Road, while Bixby plans to spend $20 million for an extensive redevelopment of the property to create a space that will attract “creative fields who are in search of large offices to rent,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

The acquisition is Bixby’s fourth in Orange County over the past 18 months.…

Extension sought for Rancho Cordova mixed-use development

Another long-planned development in Rancho Cordova is the subject of a request for an extended development agreement.

One 5.18-acre portion of the Capital Village mixed-use development would be affected if the City Council approves the 10-year extension Monday night.
