Lower oil prices and the strong U.S. dollar are dragging down Kansas City Southern Railway Co.

The Kansas City-based rail company (NYSE: KSU) lowered its estimates for revenue growth by 4 percent on Monday morning, citing slower year-to-date carload growth in the energy sector, continued deterioration of the Mexican peso against the dollar and lower fuel surcharges driven by lower WTI crude oil prices.

José Andrés opens Beefsteak, his vegetable-focused restaurant in Foggy Bottom

Beefsteak, the cheekily-named restaurant from D.C. favorite son José Andrés, opened its doors Friday for a soft opening.

The chef’s fast-casual foray is vegetable focused — think beefsteak tomato — and will serve a limited menu this week while in its soft opening period. Andrés tweeted about the opening Friday.

The restaurant is in George Washington University’s new Science and Engineering Hall at 22nd and Eye streets NW. The university formally opened the building earlier this month.

Sun block: D.C. bill would require compensation when solar access obstructed

A bill now under review by the D.C. Council would redefine the age-old complaint, “You’re blocking my sun.”

Councilman David Grosso, I-At large, has introduced legislation requiring compensation for the owner of a “solar easement” when that easement is obstructed by a neighboring structure, building, tree or vegetation, if that obstruction was not present prior to Jan. 1, 2014.

Tennessee-based Delek Logistics Partners LP (NYSE: DKL) is teaming up with two Houston-area pipeline companies to build new Texas pipeline projects.

Houston-based Plains All American Pipeline LP (NYSE: PAA) will construct the new $100 million Caddo Pipeline LLC in a 50-50 joint venture with Delek.
