AEP: Don’t fall for lowball tender offer

American Electric Power Company Inc. has taken an unusual step urging shareholders to reject a share buyback offer.

Canadian private investment firm TRC Capital is trying to buy a small percentage – 0.41 percent – of AEP’s (NYSE:AEP) outstanding shares, but the company recommended shareholders reject the so-called mini-tender offer.

Canisus College receives $1.15M gift from alum's estate

Canisius College has received a $1.15 million gift from the estate of William E. Leising, a 1972 graduate of the college.

Leising was a real estate and financial attorney, as well as a licensed real estate broker, according to his 2010 obituary in The Boston Globe.

The gift will benefit the Hubert George & Alice Shyne Leising Scholarship Fund at Canisius, established by Leising in 1998. The scholarships are designated for students who are physically challenged.

The developer of the planned NorthGate Centre mixed-use development in Delaware County has acquired 96 acres immediately south of the planned outlet mall off Interstate 71.
