Louisville gaining edge nationally in construction job growth

The Louisville area continues to benefit from an upswing in commercial construction.

A monthly ranking of construction job growth in 358 U.S. metropolitan statistical areas by the Associated General Contractors of America found that the Louisville MSA added 4,400 construction jobs from February 2014 to February 2015, increasing the number of construction jobs in the city to 28,300.

Disney's Epcot opening temporary attraction for upcoming film

Walt Disney World’s Epcot will open a new temporary attraction showcasing the Tomorrowland film set to debut on May 22.

As a way to build up hype for the film, Disney will provide guests a sneak peek of the movie at the Imagination Pavilion in Future World April 18-May 24. “At Epcot, you’ll also get a close-up look at one of the jet packs used in the film, along with a display of conceptual art and photos from the set,” said the Disney Parks Blog.

Noble Energy trims local workforce

Noble Energy Inc. has cut about 20 positions from its southwestern Pennsylvania operations as part of a larger national realignment.

According to the Houston-based company (NYSE:NBL), it is reducing its workforce by 220 positions, an 8 percent cut, based on the number of employees it reported in its most recent 10-K. The company said it is taking the step as a result of low energy prices.

Ruffin Properties renames former Bank of America Center

The Bank of America Center is no more.

Instead, Ruffin Properties, which owns the building at 100 N. Broadway, has renamed the 350,000-sqaure-foot office complex the Ruffin Building.

The name change was formalized with the installation of new signage on the building. Bank of America’s downsizing, which included a bank branch consolidation, prompted Ruffin Properties to change the name of one of downtown Wichita’s most iconic buildings.
