Abbey Residential buys rebranded Lakes at Inverness apartments for $58M

One of Birmingham’s largest apartment communities has been sold.

The Abbey at Inverness, formerly Lakes at Inverness, was acquired by Birmingham-based Abbey Residential for $58 million, according to a source close to the transaction.

The 88-acre, 801-unit apartment community is composed of one-and-two-bedroom apartments and townhouses and is the second largest multifamily development in the BBJ’s 2014 Book of Lists.

Accenture to acquire Chantilly-based Agilex Technologies

Accenture Federal Services will acquire Chantilly-based information technology company Agilex Technologies Inc., the companies announced Monday in a statement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Accenture says the acquisition will boost its ability to provide analytics, cloud and mobility services to the federal government.

United Steelworkers strike expands to Ohio, Indiana facilities

The United Steelworkers International strike of oil refineries widened over the weekend to include facilities in Ohio and Indiana.
