Hawaii Senate confirms Suzanne Case to lead state land agency

Suzanne Case, who has been with The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii for 28 years, won confirmation from the Hawaii state Senate to serve as the chair of the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.

Case won confirmation by a 23-0 vote on Friday. Two members of the chamber, Sens. Donovan Dela Cruz and Brickwood Galeteria, were excused.

Case was nominated by Gov. David Ige earlier this month after withdrawing his nomination of Castle & Cooke executive Carleton Ching.

Denver real estate icon Sherm Miller dies

Sherman Ralsey Miller IV, a longtime fixture in Denver’s commercial real estate community, has died at age 64.

Sherm Miller was a key force in the metro area’s commercial real estate market for more than three decades, spending 16 years with Cushman & Wakefield. He was C&W’s Denver executive managing director until stepping down in 2011.

Previously he was a broker and manager with what is now CBRE Group Inc. for 17 years.

7-Eleven opening another Waikiki store in former Kuhio Pharmacy site

Convenience store giant 7-Eleven Hawaii is finalizing a lease at the former Prince Kuhio Pharmacy location on Kalakaua Avenue in Honolulu, with plans to open a new store in the fourth quarter of this year, the head of the company told PBN Friday.

Kuhio Pharmacy, which had been open at 1922 Kalakaua Ave. and 2330 Kuhio Ave., both in Waikiki, closed in January.
