Bringing the Uber culture to Uncle Sam? HumanTouch CEO Moe Jafari said it's happening.

If you ask CEO Moe Jafari about HumanTouch LLC’s approach, he’ll liken it to Uber or Parkmobile: Provide applications that can be quickly deployed on most any technology platform to make life a whole lot easier.

At first glance, it’s not a concept that melds with the bureaucracy that is the federal government. But agencies have come around.

“We’re offering them the ability to spin up an application quickly and easily and to take the risk of building from scratch out of the way,” Jafari said in…

Boston buyer acquires high-end Franklin apartments

A Boston investment firm has spent $37.25 million to bolster its Middle Tennessee portfolio.

According to public records, Eaton Vance Corp. (NYSE: EV) acquired the Grove at Shadow Green high-end apartment complex. It’s located a couple of miles south of downtown Franklin.

The complex contains 196 apartments at 2000 Toll House Circle. That means Eaton Vance paid an average of $190,000 per apartment. The price tag underscores the interest that well-heeled institutional capital increasingly shows…

D.C.’s biggest move ever: 880 tons and 34 feet

There’s nothing easy about moving, whether it’s an office, a home — or an 880-ton historic brick building.

But that’s what Douglas Development and its contractor, Davis Construction, are doing in Mount Vernon Square, where the first of two historic structures will be jacked up and rolled 34 feet to the east as part of Douglas’ massive Square 450 project.

The former home of the DC Eagle bar, 639 New York Ave. NW, will be relocated to a new concrete slab, where it will eventually border a…

New homes sales in March put region on best pace since 2008

With another increase in new homes sold in March over the previous month, the Sacramento region is on pace for its highest numbers in seven years.

The end of March and the first quarter of the year showed 374 and 960 new homes sold, respectively. In 2008, the figure at the end of the first quarter was 1,229, and the total of 3,567 that year came as the economy slowed drastically in the second half. The North State Building Industry Association, which compiles the monthly new home sales report, thinks…

Real estate law giant Goulston & Storrs' big change at the top

Barry Green, a long-time director in Goulston & Storrs PC’s real estate practice, has taken over as co-managing director of the law firm, alongside Martin Fantozzi.

Green replaces Douglas Husid, who had served as a managing director for 18 years. (Husid remains at Goulston as a director.) After nearly two decades with the same person in the position, “it makes sense to have some change at this point,” Green said.

With more than 150 attorneys in Massachusetts, Goulston is one of the largest…
