New W Bellevue hotel's design meant to invoke a 'welcoming lakeside summer house'

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide (NYSE: HOT) on Monday said it has reached an agreement with Kemper Development Co., to open a W brand hotel as part of the $1.2 billion expansion of Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square.

The W Bellevue is scheduled to open in spring 2017. W Bellevue will join W Seattle as the brand’s second hotel in the Puget Sound region.

Folsom considers big hike in development fees for parks

Folsom’s City Council will consider new park fees this week that would increase those for a single-family home by thousands of dollars.

The higher fees would help pay for parks to be developed in the remaining parts of Folsom north of Highway 50 that haven’t been built. The Folsom Plan Area south of 50, which will eventually have more than 10,000 homes, is not part of the new fees, which would cover about 2,000 planned single-family homes and other development.

David Martin, who owns David Martin Construction Co. in Xenia is looking to put the operation at the vacant lot next to the Kinsey Village Apartments on Kinsey Road. The plot of land is about five acres, and Martin said that the project is still in the planning phase.

Duke Energy mounts new advertising campaign

Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) launched a new television, radio, print and online ad campaign Monday in various parts of its six-state footprint.

It is the third major ad campaign Duke has introduced since its merger with Progress Energy in the summer of 2012. Spokesman Tom Williams says the company decided that year to step up its advertising efforts and has since been following through.
