Bauerfeind USA to relocate and expand in Midtown

Orthopedic technology company Bauerfeind USA will relocate its headquarters to Midtown and expand.

Bauerfeind, a subsidiary of Germany based Bauerfeind AG, develops orthoses, medical compression stockings and orthopedic supports used by athletes and others.

Bauerfeind, currently headquartered in Marietta, has leased more than 7,000 square feet at Promenade, according to a filing with the City of Atlanta. The company, which declined to comment, is not expected to relocate its warehouse operation…

Triad's quarterly commercial building sales near $262M

Commercial property sales in the Triad neared $262 million for the first quarter — more than half of that amount was in Guilford — with March seeing an uptick in sales surpassing the $1 million mark.

Three of the largest deals of the quarter were transactions between Bellevue Acquisitions LLC, an entity controlled by General Electric, and Canada-based Piret NC Property LP. Those three sales, all in February, together totaled $57 million.

Study: Phoenix second best in US for green living

Phoenix ranks second in the U.S. for green living, according to a new report by real estate company Trulia.

Trulia looked at homes offering environmentally friendly amenities and components. Those ranged from solar energy panels to low flow toilets.

St. Louis comes in first followed by Phoenix, Austin, Fort Worth, Denver and Dallas.

Trulia experts note that green homes will make up as much as 38 percent of the construction market next year.

General Dynamics to lay off about 100 D.C. employees

The loss of an information technology contract to a competitor has forced General Dynamics Corp. to let nearly 100 employees go, the company confirmed.

General Dynamics Information Technology in Herndon lost an $85 million recompete of the Information Technology Support Services contract with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The loss will affect 96 employees working at a client site in D.C.

WireCo WorldGroup, which ranks No. 18 on the Kansas City Business Journal’s list of top area private companies by revenue, has signed a lease for 48,000 square feet in a building at 2400 W. 75th St. in Prairie Village.
