Xerox on prowl for office space near Albany to fulfill $535M state contract

Xerox Corp. needs 80,000 to 95,000 square feet of office space within 10 miles of downtown Albany, New York where 400 people will be hired to fulfill a new, huge contract with the state Health Department.

“We would like to occupy 30,000 square feet as soon as possible, in the next 30 to 45 days,” said Jennifer A. Wasmer, a spokeswoman for Xerox, headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Construction begins this week on a $10 million skilled nursing and rehabilitation center in Clermont County’s Miami Township, which will create 75 jobs.

Complaints from Central Valley residents that the state has botched the acquisition of land for high-speed rail failed to convince lawmakers last week that the matter deserved further investigation.
