City to vote on payments for Regions Field construction

After a month delay, the Birmingham city council will vote this week whether to approve a $4 million settlement related to unanticipated construction costs on Regions Field.

In March, the city was set to vote on the settlement, which is half of what contractors Robins & Morton and A.G. Gaston Construction said accrued in unexpected costs while building the $64 million home for the Birmingham Barons.

Fast-casual sushi chain plotting expansion, with Columbus as new base

Fusian isn’t just expanding in Columbus – it may be settling down here too.

The fast-casual sushi chain started in Cincinnati five years ago, but co-founder Zach Weprin said the growing company plans to establish its offices in Central Ohio in the next year or so.

“We think it’s a really good place to build out from,” he said, with an ultimate goal of expanding out of the state.

Weprin is based in Columbus, while co-founders Josh Weprin, his brother, and Stephan Harman are in Cincinnati.

BJ's customer lawsuit accuses retailer of overcharging

A Florida resident is accusing BJ’s Wholesale Club of unlawfully charging sales tax on the full price of its items rather than their discounted prices.

The complaint says Laura Bugliaro, a BJ’s member, bought a 55-inch television from a BJ’s store in Cutler Bay for a discounted price of $769.99 but was charged sales tax on the full price of $1,399.99. There was no manufacturer’s coupon involved and the discount is believed to have been offered by BJ’s.
