Emerson wins $60M power generation contract

Pittsburgh-based Emerson Process Management has snagged a $60 million contract for a power plant generator in Poland.

The 910-megawatt clean-coal generating unit will be installed at the Tauron power station in Jaworzno, Poland. Other terms were not announced. Emerson will be contractor for electrical and automation units, according to a statement from the company.

Houston energy company weighs restructuring with "severe" money woes

Houston-based Harvest Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: HNR) is considering a major restructuring in the face of “severe” financial problems.

The financially struggling, oil and gas exploration and production company has seen its woes compounded by the block of the sale of some of its Venezuelan assets by the government and greatly diminished global oil prices.

Erik Bruner-Yang’s Maketto to open April 10

D.C. chef Erik Bruner-Yang’s long-planned H Street restaurant concept Maketto will open April 10, with a pre-opening “housewarming party” April 4.

Maketto, at 1351 H St. NE, not far from Bruner-Yang’s Toki Underground, is a collaboration between Bruner-Yang and Will Sharp of the D.C.-based Durki street clothing line. It combines retail and restaurant spaces, street food, coffee and donuts, food products and apparel.

Projections say convention center redevelopment will create 2,000 jobs

A mixed-use development on the site of Nashville’s original convention center should create some 2,000 jobs and an $8 million annual boost to Metro tax revenue, according to an economic analysis.

The $400 million project, formally announced March 27, also will involve 2,500 construction workers, according to the report. The study was done by Mark Burton, who is a research associate professor in the University of Tennessee’s economics department.
