Rochester Mall opens new anchor, Scheels All Sport

Scheels All Sport has opened at the Apache Mill in Rochester, Minn., filling a spot left when Sears left last year.

The Post-Bulletin has a report on the opening by Fargo, N.D.-based Scheels, which becomes the first new anchor for the shopping mall in at least 13 years (Herbergers opened in 2002). The mall is now anchored by JC Penney, Macy’s, Herberger’s and Scheels.

Scheels moved into 140,000 square feet that was renovated after the departure of Sears in 2014. It’s hired 250 people for the store.…

Panera appoints new CFO

Panera Bread has appointed Michael Bufano as its senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Bufano will replace William Moreton, Panera’s executive vice chairman who has been serving as interim CFO since Roger Matthews resigned in August.

Allen City Council to vote on $85M hotel, meeting complex

The city of Allen is stepping closer to building an $85 million hotel and meeting complex on North Central Expressway at Bethany Drive.

The Allen City Council will vote Tuesday to approve the project, according to a report in the Dallas Morning News.

The complex and hotel will make the Collin County city more competitive for larger conferences and could make it easier to attract more businesses and visitors, officials have said.
