A Jacksonville-based construction company is facing scrutiny for putting the safety of its workers at risk, according to a news release.

Fearing the loss of up to 100 federal jobs, some residents of Montgomery County have turned to U.S. Rep. Christopher Van Hollen Jr., D-Md., of Kensington, to get answers, according to The Gazette.

Savannah construction subcontractors and suppliers say they are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars by J.T. Turner Construction, which announced in mid-March it was closing after almost 40 years in business.

They are questioning how Turner can close his doors while his son, Tripp, continues to operate under another Turner company name in South Carolina, reports Savannah Morning News.
