Phoenix company continues $100M industrial shopping spree

Two warehouses south of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport have sold for $6.3 million.

The fully leased buildings total more than 95,000 square feet, making the sale worth $66.28 per foot.

The buyer is Phoenix-based ViaWest Group. The company has been buying up industrial buildings in the Southwest. Those purchases could total as much $100 million.

ViaWest principals Gary Linhart and Steven Schwarz are also looking to buy office buildings and apartment complexes.

Denver to identify historic buildings in citywide survey

Historic Denver Inc. and the city and county of Denver have launched the first-ever citywide building survey to identify historic and architecturally significant structures.

The effort, called Discover Denver, kicked off last week with a demonstration of the techniques that will be used to survey the city’s 160,000 buildings.

The survey will gather information about buildings using public records, neighborhood canvassing, academic research and tips from the public. Findings will eventually be accessible…

Eastern National Bank moving HQ from Brickell to Dadeland

Eastern National Bank will relocate its headquarters to the Dadeland area several years after selling its Brickell Avenue building to a developer.

The bank sold its current headquarters building at 799 Brickell Plaza to Swire Properties in 2011 for $13.1 million, although it has remained in the building. That site is part of the massive Brikcell City Centre project.

Rental population booming in Washington, but affordability lags

Washington, D.C. was among five U.S. cities with more than 20 percent growth in rental population between 2006 and 2013, but many people living in these urban hubs are struggling to find affordable units, according to preliminary data from a study commissioned by Capital One Financial Corp.

The District and three other cities joined a list of metros where more than 50 percent of the population rents. Before 2006, renters were the majority in just five of America’s largest cities.
