Word last week that the U.S. Custom House will get a new tenant hints at what could be a very different vibe near the Broadway Bridge’s west end.

Indeed, WeWork’s announcement — the New York-based provider of coworking space will occupy nearly the 79,000-square-foot space — almost seems like a precursor to something bigger. That is, the U.S. Custom House sits on a block that serves as the Pearl District’s unofficial eastern boundary.

Sporting goods store could fill Regency Mall's vacant Sears

In a hint of good news to come for Racine’s struggling Regency Mall, the property owner said a deal is in the works to bring an unnamed sporting goods store into the mall’s vacant Sears anchor space.

The 89,000-square-foot store closed in January 2014, followed later that year by news that Regency’s remaining anchor tenant J.C. Penney was also closing. Both national retail chains have been shuttering locations around the country, compounding the challenges of maintaining a mall in the era of e-commerce.

April 29 auction set for Forest Avenue apartment building

An early 20th century apartment building, not far from Buffalo State College, is expected to attract a fair amount of bidders when it goes up for auction later this month.

A bank-imposed foreclosure has been set for a six-unit apartment building at 423 Forest Ave., with the auction set for 10 a.m. April 29 at the building. Anderson Auction & Realty has been retained to handle the auction.

Central Homecare a new addition to growing Newton Medical campus

The campus of Newton Medical Center has a new occupant.

Newton-based Central Homecare opened Monday at 1715 Medical Park Drive, suite 100, a site that is part of the hospital’s group of medical office buildings.

Central Homecare, which provides various skilled nursing and therapy services to people in their homes, moved from a location on North Main Street in Newton. Central Homecare provides services to areas within a 50 mile radius of Newton.

Honolulu gas prices continue to drop

A gallon of regular gas in Honolulu averaged $2.97 on Sunday, dipping below the $3 mark and showing signs of going even lower.

GasBuddy.com, which tracks retail outlets throughout the U.S., including 214 in Honolulu, is still predicting that this summer’s gas prices will be the lowest in a decade.

Honolulu’s average prices over the weekend were 3.5 cents a gallon below a week earlier, 9.7 cents a gallon below a month ago, and $1.286 a gallon compared to a year ago.
